Crisis
of unemployment, though it is a global issue gravity of which is greater
at national level and the consequences are yet manifold in Kerala context.
As the primary step of remedial process, it is high time that awareness
of entrepreneurship is to be inculcated to the youth alongside their
academic process are in progress. Entrepreneurship activities have got
much relevance especially in the present situation where thousands of
technically qualified hands are emerging out of a large number of technical
institutions, thanks to the extensive opportunities facilitating chances
of higher education, especially in the engineering sector consequent
to the policy of economic liberalization initiated in the early years
of 1990 decades.
Organization of campus entrepreneurship programmes
will raise student awareness and increase their understanding of entrepreneurship
and fundamentally change the way student regard themselves and their
options. Entrepreneurship activities in college campus aims to equip
the student to start their own ventures after providing continuous training
and proper guidance and thus young technocrats turn to 'job generators'
instead of 'job seekers'
This scheme is launched with a view to encourage
student in AICTE approved institutions for considering self employment
as a career option and provide training in entrepreneurship through modular
courses.
Objectives of the schemes are
> To
create an environment for self employment and entrepreneurship development
through formal and non-formal programmes.
>To
induce the concept of entrepreneurship in curricula at diploma and degree
levels.
>To
develop management personnel at appropriate level for non-corporate and
unorganized sectors.
> To
utilize the infrastructure facilities and technically trained manpower
for the development of non-corporate and unorganized sector.
>
To promote employment opportunities.
